Peter Kris - Death of a Valley

Pressing play on Death of a Valley commands moments for thoughts to focus and drift. Entrancingly contemplative, Peter Kris has turned the tumblers unlocking threads between consideration's arrays. Creativity playing a sublime path to follow, many forks branching to infinite spaces. Somehow, with the world opening up as we listen, a dense current of fluid sound maintains a relished equilibrium. Like a train ride through mountains, desert, coastal vistas and dense forests, our minds imagine while being held in the gentle confines of a windowed carriage. A constant significance to all Peter Kris' bodies of work, the gorgeous ability to satiate the conscious for the benefit of astral awareness or microscopic detail. Death of a Valley is a little more reserved though. Much of this composition holds a somber tone. There are moments of guitar fireworks, a time of crescendo and awakening, but nostalgia and reminiscing seem to take precedent. Maybe this is all connected to the note from Peter Kris that this would be the last release for this project and direction. That being true, Death of a Valley ironically would be a great place to start for anyone beginning their listening exploration down this path. Thirty four tracks, all held in a surge of heart felt emotion. Very easy to be whisked away by these sounds and how nimbly they represent a sentiment for all accord.

Released on Never Anything Records as a double cassette. This is a very small run of only fifty. There are two physical copies remaining at the time of these words. Also, Death of a Valley marks the fifth release for Peter Kris on Never Anything Records. Amazingly four double cassette releases and a fifth very lengthy single cassette release. All sold out except for the couple of editions for this newest edition to the label's catalog.
